5 Sweet Picks to Stitch One Block at a Time
There’s something special about a Block of the Month. A little sewing every month, a new block to look forward to, and by the end, a whole quilt you built one piece at a time.
So we’ve rounded up all the block of the month quilts we’re carrying right now. They range from sweet pastel storefronts to cozy holiday stars. Here’s a quick look to help you find your perfect fit.
Quilt Shop
First up is every quilter’s dream storefront. Heather Briggs of My Sew Quilty Life fills a pastel shop window with tiny sewing machines, spools and fabric bolts. It’s all made with her Handmade Sweetness collection for Moda Fabrics.
The 6-month quilt along starts January 15, 2027. Plus, your kit includes Heather’s full virtual experience. That means monthly YouTube Lives, Zoom meetups, a hand embroidery tutorial, giveaways, and a Facebook group. You can choose a top kit or a top plus backing kit.
Christmas Shop
Next, meet Quilt Shop’s holiday sister. Christmas Shop turns a festive little storefront into a quilt you’ll bring out every December. It’s made with Heather’s December Darling collection for Moda.
The kit includes 10 full-color patterns and all the fabric for the top and binding. You can also add backing. Kits are a pre-order shipping in June 2027. You pay 50% now, and the balance is charged on May 1, 2027. The panel, buttons, and floss are sold separately.
Maison
If you love a fun mail day, Maison is for you. Jessica Rose of Quilted Studios designed this 8 month BOM with her Midnight Fleur collection for Moda. It starts in January 2027.
Your pattern arrives with eight envelopes, one for each month. Each block mixes traditional piecing with a little faux appliqué. Some envelopes also hold extras, like a custom sticker, a metal threader or a collectible quilt label. And if you want extra help, just scan the QR code for photo instructions.
Love Letters
Love Letters is a quilt with a story. Designer Dawn Heese found a bundle of soldiers’ wartime letters at a French flea market. She then paired that find with an antique French paisley full of hearts.
The quilt is a medallion built around a 16″ center block. Heart-shaped blocks fill the corners and outer rows. Even better, the scalloped border uses a no-bias edge. That makes it friendly for beginners and still fun for experienced quilters. The backing option uses 108″ wide fabric, so you won’t need to piece your back.
Poinsettia Stars
Finally, here’s a classic for star lovers. Poinsettia Stars features 12 unique star blocks with sashing and borders. The pattern shows off Poinsettia & Pear by Sherri & Chelsi for Moda.
