Christmas Delight Mystery Quilt Along Week Three

We are starting our third week of the mystery quilt.  We have completed 10 blocks and with week three you will have a total of 14.

As we move along in our skill building tutorials I’ve added various ways to make flying geese blocks.  You learn the traditional method, the Creative Grids Flying Geese Ruler, and 1-1/2” x 3” Flying Geese paper from Its Sew Emma.

The first two blocks are four flying geese sewn together.  Did you know that the middle triangle is referred to as the goose and the background fabric is the sky?   It’s a helpful way to remember which fabric you’re using for each section of the block.

We are also making two adorable Sawtooth Stars where I show you how to fussy cut the center square.  I received my new Fig Tree Christmas Stitched fabric this week, and fussy cut some words from the panel for the top of my ornament. It was a close fit, but it worked.

I would love to see your blocks, so please post them in our “Quilting with Sandy” Facebook group.
